PGCIL board approves capex worth Rs.22 bn

The board of Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) approved investments totalling Rs.22 billion for various power transmission projects. Approval was granted to Rs.11.8 billion worth Transmission System Strengthening Scheme for evacuation of Power from Solar Energy Zones in Rajasthan (8.1 GW) under Phase-II - Part-B1. The project will be commissioned in phases from December 2021 to September 2022. The board has also approved an investment of Rs.5.76 billion for North Eastern Region Strengthening Scheme-XII (NERSS-XII). The project will be commissioned by March 2023. A sum of Rs.1.8 billion will be invested in Transmission System for Power Evacuation from Arun-3 (900 MW) HEP, Nepal of M/s. SAPDC-Indian Portion. It is scheduled to be commissioned by April 2023. Capital expenditure for procurement of telecom equipment for building a dedicated telecom network for National Transmission Asset Management Centre with an estimated cost of Rs.1.17 billion was also cleared by the board.
