Work on UP’s expressways continues despite pandemic challenges
UPEIDA confident that minor disruptions caused by second wave will dissipate
Uttar Pradesh (UP) government is looking to finish critical infrastructure projects on time. It did not stop work on the state’s expressway projects. Although the pandemic had some effect on the construction of Purvanchal, Bundelkhand and Gorakhpur Link Expressways and the land acquisition for the Ganga Expressway, work continued without major disruption, as per the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) - the agency responsible for the planning and construction of expressways in the state. The pandemic might have a slight effect on the timelines, maybe about 15 days to a month, said Awanish Awasthi, the chief executive officer (CEO) of UPEIDA. UPEIDA is confident that the minor disruptions caused by the second wave will dissipate, and it will bounce back to complete the projects on time.
