The Gujarat Power Corporation (GPCL) plans to set up two more parks to tap solar energy. One of these, having a capacity of 700 megawatt (MW), will come up at the Radhaneshda village of Banaskantha district. The company has prepared the detailed project report and progress has been made on acquiring land and water connection. The bidding process for solar projects would be initiated soon. The second park, of 500 MW capacity, is expected to come up in Harshad village of Banaskantha. The state government plans to add 2,000 MW of solar power capacity every year for the next five years, according to state energy secretary Sujit Gulati.
